Driving limit
Up to 11 hours of driving after 10 consecutive hours off duty.
Jimbo Driver Academy
Hands-on ELD training built around how Jimbo drivers log with Motive, plus a video-game style simulator for motorhomes, tow-away and Haul & Tow rigs.
01 · The rules in one screen
Every Jimbo driver should know these by heart. The trainer below runs all four live, so you can watch them move as you change your status.
Up to 11 hours of driving after 10 consecutive hours off duty.
No driving past the 14th hour after you come on duty. Breaks don’t pause it.
Required after 8 total hours of driving. Any 30 straight minutes not driving counts.
No driving after 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days. A 34-hour restart resets it.
Property-carrying limits from the FMCSA hours-of-service summary. Exceptions apply in some cases. When in doubt, ask Jimbo safety.
RV drive-away & tow-away
FMCSA exempts some drive-away and tow-away moves from the ELD rule, for example when the vehicle you drive is the load or you’re moving a motorhome or RV trailer. You still have to keep records of duty status, and carriers can choose to use ELDs anyway. Mobile and modular homes don’t qualify for the exception.
The law · 49 CFR § 395.8(a)(1)(ii)(A)
“A motor carrier may require a driver to record the driver’s duty status manually in accordance with this section, rather than require the use of an ELD, if the driver is operating a commercial motor vehicle:”
What it means for Jimbo drivers: items (2) and (3) cover our RV drive-away and tow-away loads. The ELD is optional, but the logbook isn’t. “Manually” means you still keep a paper record of duty status, and all the hours-of-service limits still apply.
How Jimbo logs
Motive pairs the Driver App with a Vehicle Gateway that reads the engine. Logs work offline and sync later. At roadside you send them through FMCSA web services or by email. Your fleet decides whether Personal Conveyance and Yard Move are turned on.
02 · ELD trainer
Tap the phone like it’s your Driver App. Move the truck with the speed slider and speed up time. The graph-grid draws itself, the clocks count down, and every lesson checks off when you get it right.
“I hereby certify that my data entries and my record of duty status for this 24-hour period are true and correct.”
Unidentified driving
0.6 hr of driving on this truck wasn’t assigned to a driver (Yesterday 17:12–17:48, Middlebury, IN).
Tap anything you find wrong. Leave it if it’s good.
Officer asks for your logs. Start Inspection Mode, then hand over the phone or send the logs.
Inspection Mode · read-only
Today + previous 7 days. Officer can view, not edit.
ELDs can fail. Trigger a practice failure and put the steps in the right order.
The truck has been stopped 5 minutes. If you don’t answer in 1 minute, you’ll be set to On Duty. (Sim time slows down here.)
Practice simulator built by Jimbo. Not the Motive app and not affiliated with Motive.
Hover or drag across the graph to read any minute. Tap a block to edit it like a driver would.
Edits never delete the original. The ELD keeps it and shows your change with your note. Automatically recorded driving time can’t be edited to non-driving time. FMCSA: Editing and annotations
03 · Scenario check
Real situations Jimbo drivers run into. Score 8 or better to print your practice certificate.
04 · Jimbo Road Sim
A training game built around how RVs really handle. Long motorhome overhang, trailer sway in a crosswind, jackknife angles when you back up, and a Haul & Tow rig with a unit on the deck and one behind. Your logs run the whole time.
Drag on the road to drive: left/right to steer, up for gas, down to brake. Or use the Steer, Gas and Brake controls, or W A S D.
Jimbo Road Sim is a training game. Handling is simplified and it isn’t a certified simulator. Always follow Jimbo safety training, your vehicle manuals and posted laws.
